Fridge door competition

Thank you to Wendy for holding a fridge door contest, with a cookbook to win.

Thank you to Sam for making my fridge door such a cheerful sight.

You mean the spinosaurus, Wendy? I won’t tell Sam you called it a bug, but I’m sure he’ll be very flattered that you love it!

The pink bug – I adore it! Tell Sam I’d pay good money for his masterpieces. 🙂

In Tokyo I had the great fortune of eating at @dai In Tokyo I had the great fortune of eating at @daisukesushiyuu thanks to my friend @tokyo_traveller. There is nothing I love more than watching a passionate artist at work, and seeing Daisuke in his element made me as happy as the food itself. Arigato gozaimasu Daisuke and Koichiro!

While in Tokyo, I took a cooking class with Akiko, While in Tokyo, I took a cooking class with Akiko, who feels strongly about preserving traditions in Japanese home cooking. She spends half the year in the south of France, but while in Japan cooks only with local ingredients. This is how she prepares lotus root; you can use the same technique with celery, which has a similar crunch.
Send me a message if you would like to receive details of my Japan Culinary Adventure in March 2024!

For food lovers, there is no better way to start a For food lovers, there is no better way to start a trip to Tokyo than with a visit to Tsukiji market. After a perfect latte at @turretcoffee, we tasted sweet tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet) and mentaiko pasta (a fusion dish made with spicy cod roe and cream) before hiding away in a tiny tearoom for traditional sweets and cinnamon toast. Heaven!

Hidden behind the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate in Hidden behind the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate in Nice Old Town, @marinette.kitchen is the place to indulge in nostalgic cakes with an Anglo twist. A bestseller is the “cookie minute”, which is baked to order and served with whipped soy cream. The verrière in their newly opened space across the street from the original makes this a bright spot on a winter’s day.

I met South African chef @janhendrikvanderwesthuiz I met South African chef @janhendrikvanderwesthuizen when he first moved to Nice and felt nervous about opening his own restaurant. Now @restaurant_jan is Michelin-starred and superstar Jan has many other projects in the go, including shooting photos for my upcoming cookbook Niçoise!
To celebrate the end of a year of photo shoots in which we captured all the seasons of Nice, Jan invited me to dine at his restaurant with him and @hanrumarais. As always, our meal was a magical interlude that will leave me with lasting memories. Merci Jan, je t’aime!

Today I discovered this gem of a café in the Libération area of Nice! Open from Tuesday to Friday afternoons, @atelieralfred has become a meeting place for locals with its board games, books, homemade cakes and organic teas. It’s an association, so proceeds are reinvested in the café to make it even more comfy and accessible and to organize events and workshops!
